Hollywood Walk Of Fame Committee Now Accepting Nominations for 2014

Deadline: Hardcopy of Nomination required by Friday, May 30, 2014 at 12 Noon. No previous formats of the Nomination Application will be accepted.

Nominations for the Hollywood Walk of Fame are now being accepted by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. Deadline for submission is Friday, May 30, 2014 at 12 noon. Hardcopy is required. All nominations will be considered at the annual Walk of Fame Committee meeting to be held in June. The committee will make selections for the year 2014.

IMPORTANT: The Hollywood Walk of Fame considers all nomination applications once a year in June. Please read carefully the guidelines and process to submit an application. The Hollywood Walk of Fame does not accept, encourage or support any other effort - letter writing, online petitions or signature gathering - to nominate a star.

The Walk of Fame categories include Motion Pictures, Television, Radio, Recording and Live Performance/Theatre.  The committee will select approximately 12-15 names for insertion into the Walk.  When nominating an individual or group, the sponsor must submit a photo, a bio and the nominee’s qualifications as well as a list of contributions to the community and civic-oriented participation. A letter of agreement from the nominee or his/her management must be included with the application.


HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME NEW SELECTION

HOLLYWOOD, CA.  June 20, 2013 —For the first time in the history of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the Walk of Fame Selection Committee made a live announcement prior to a milestone 2,500th star dedication ceremony for Jennifer Lopez. The Committee announced the new group of entertainment professionals skilled in the categories of Motion Pictures, Television, Radio, and Recording who have been chosen to receive the coveted Walk of Fame star. “The Walk of Fame Selection Committee is proud to announce the new Class of 2014,” stated David Green, Chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee. “We have a great mix of celebrities and industry executives who have made Hollywood what it is today - one of the greatest entertainment destinations in the world.  The new selections will bring great joy and fond memories for those millions who visit Hollywood each year!”

Chairman Green along with Hollywood Chamber President & CEO Leron Gubler announced to the world on Thursday, June 20, 2013 the new selections at 11 a.m. in front of the W Hotel Hollywood.  These individuals were chosen from among hundreds of nominations sent to the committee at a meeting held in June 14, 2013 and subsequently ratified by the Hollywood Chamber’s Board of Directors. After the announcement, hundreds of Jennifer Lopez fans enjoyed watching this unprecedented ceremony as their favorite singer/actress was presented with the 2,500th star on the Walk of Fame.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame recipients for the year 2014 are:

MOTION PICTURES: Orlando Bloom, Ray Dolby, Sally Field, Jack H. Harris, Jessica Lange, Matthew McConaughey, Liam Neeson, Paul Mazursky, and Tom Sherak

TELEVISION: Dabney Coleman, Kaley Cuoco, Claire Danes, Giancarlo Esposito, Deidre Hall, Cheryl Hines, Don Mischer , Tavis Smiley and Phil Hartman (posthumous)

RECORDING: Holland Dozier Holland, Jeff Lynne, Mana, Ray Parker Jr., Katy Perry, Rick Springfield and Tupac Amaru Shakur (posthumous)

RADIO: Renan Almendarez Coello (El Cucuy)

The event was live streamed on www.walkoffame.com.

Dates have not been scheduled for these stars. Recipients have five years to schedule ceremonies from date of selection or they expire. Upcoming star ceremonies are usually announced 10 days prior to event on official website www.walkoffame.comand social media.

Actress and recent Walk of Fame recipient Marg Helgenberger announced the new selections to the media on Friday, June 22, 2012 at Noon in the historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel’s Oscar Room at 7000 Hollywood Boulevard. These individuals were chosen from among hundreds of nominations at a meeting held on June 15, 2012 and ratified by the Hollywood Chamber’s Board of Directors. Leron Gubler, President and CEO of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce hosted the event and David Green, Chairman of the Walk of Fame selection committee, who participated in this historic event stated “The Walk of Fame committee is proud to announce next year’s honorees whose additions to the world famous Hollywood Walk of Fame will bring everlasting memories of their star power, talent, and popularity to the millions who visit Hollywood each year and which will shine even more light on the entertainment capital of the world.”

HOLLYWOOD, CA. - June 17, 2010 - A new group of entertainment professionals in motion pictures, television, live theater, and recording have been selected to receive stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it was announced today by the Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. These individuals were chosen from among hundreds of nominations to the committee at a meeting held on June 14, 2010 and ratified by the Chamber’s Board of Directors.

The Walk of Fame recipients for the year 2011 are:

MOTION PICTURES: Penelope Cruz, Bruce Dern, Laura Dern, Diane Ladd, Ed Harris, The Muppets, Kenny Ortega, Gwyneth Paltrow, Ridley Scott, Sissy Spacek, Donald Sutherland and Reese Witherspoon.

TELEVISION: Danny DeVito, Tina Fey, Simon Fuller, Neil Patrick Harris, John Langley, Ed O’Neill, John Wells, and Oprah Winfrey.

RECORDING: Melissa Etheridge, Los Tigres Del Norte, Rascal Flatts, Go-Go’s, Slash, Will i. Am, and Bebe & Cece Winans. Posthumous: Buddy Holly and Louis Prima

"It was not an easy job to winnow down the extra large number of nominations this year to reach these 30 names," said John Pavlik, chair of the Hollywood Walk of Fame Committee, "and many deserving names were left for future consideration. But the placement of stars for these famous celebrities will give fans and tourists some fun and exciting close encounters next year, such as a rare family dedication, when three stars will be placed during the same ceremony for actors Bruce Dern and Diane Ladd and their daughter Laura Dern. Next year will be another exhilarating year on Hollywood Boulevard".

The Walk of Fame includes five categories:

  • Motion Pictures
  • Television
  • Radio
  • Recording
  • Live Theatre/Performance

All Nominations must include the following documents with the application:

  • Photo of the nominee
  • Brief bio of nominee - no more than 5 pages
  • Nominee’s qualifications
  • List of contributions to the community and civic-oriented participation
  • Letter of agreement from the nominee or his/her management

The committee will select approximately 12-15 names for insertion into the Walk. Nomination of an individual or group must be approved by the Walk of Fame Committee, sometimes requiring several annual nominations before a nominee is selected to receive a star. The most qualified artists nominated are eligible for a star to be installed in the Walk during the subsequent year. Those not selected for the current year are requested to resubmit for the following nomination period.

The criteria for receiving a star consists of the following: - professional achievement - longevity of five years or more - contributions to the community and - the guarantee that the celebrity will attend the dedication ceremony if selected.
- Posthumous awards require a five-year waiting period.

After the Walk of Fame Committee has made its selections, the Chamber’s Board of Directors also vote to approve the star and then for a final vote, the names are submitted to the City of Los Angeles’ Board of Public Works Department.

All honorees must be approved by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, the decisions of which are final and entirely within the Chamber’s Discretion. Nomination and selection procedures, forms, and qualifications are guidelines only, entirely within the Chamber’s discretion, and are subject to change at any time, without notice.

Special Rules for Performing Duos and Groups:

The current owner(s) of a performing duo or group name must consent in writing to the nomination before it will be considered. The names of all group members, past and present, must be included on the nomination form. The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to condition award and installation of any star honoring a duo or group on its discretionary satisfaction with the sponsor’s arrangements regarding honorees and the installation ceremony.

If selected for a star, all musical groups must add Hollywood Chamber of Commerce as additional insured.
